Understanding Values in Canada’s North Pacific

Dataviz, Interactive

The Challenge

In 2013, Ecotrust Canada and the T. Buck Suzuki Environmental Foundation published a report on the non-monetary role that BC’s commercial fishing industry plays in coastal communities. The report was full of static data visualizations, but I thought a more dynamic approach might be interesting.

The Process

I used data from the original report to produce an interactive report summary that allows users to play with the report’s data in new ways.

The Outcome

The online report includes three interactive visualizations that allow users to dig into raw data that had been inaccessible in the report’s print version.
